WORSHIP MINISTRIES:

Acolytes: Acolytes assist the priest and the lay ministers in the service by performing such functions as lighting and extinguishing candles, carrying the cross in procession, and helping to prepare the altar for communion.

 

Altar Guild: Prepare the altar and church for worship services. Maintain all the altar linens, hangings, vessels, and the clergy’s vestments. They decorate the chancel for Easter and Christmas, and they manage the schedules for all the memorial candles and flowers. They also distribute these flowers to shut-ins.

 

Choir:

 

Praise Band: Some Sunday’s we are blessed with talented parishioners to enhance our worship with praise music.

 

Eucharistic Ministers: A Eucharistic Minister is a lay person authorized to administer the Consecrated Elements at a Celebration of Holy Eucharist.  At St. George’s Church, Eucharistic Ministers also are Lectors.

 

Eucharistic Visitors: A Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration. This vital service helps maintain the parish relationship for those so confined.

 

Greeters: Provide welcome, information, and directions for visitors and new members. Greeters also follow up with visitors, and provide contact information to the Rector and administration.

 

Lectors: A Lector is a lay person who reads the Scripture and/or the Prayers of the People during a worship service.

 

Sound Technician: Operates the public address system during worship services.

 

Ushers: Provide information and service bulletins to those entering the church. They receive the offerings of the congregation and guide the flow of the congregation to the rail during the Eucharist.

 

Worship Leader: A Worship Leader is a lay person who regularly leads public worship under the direction of the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith.
